Navy Strength is Archipelago's flagship Botanical Gin turned up to seaworthy proof — 58% ABV, the historic gunpowder-strength standard — and the higher bottling doesn't just add heat, it amplifies one of the most distinctive botanical bills in gin. Full Circle Craft Distillers, the Philippines' first craft gin producer, builds ARC from 28 botanicals, 22 of them sourced and foraged across the archipelago: fresh pomelo, dalandan, calamansi, and dayap for a citrus profile no European gin can replicate, Benguet pine, fresh mango for roundness, and the native flowers sampaguita, ylang-ylang, and kamia, all anchored on juniper and set over a base of whole-kernel French winter wheat from the Champagne region that adds a faint caramel sweetness. The standard-strength Botanical Gin earned 92 points from Wine Enthusiast, whose blind panel found bold cardamom and anise, a hint of gingerbread, a floral mid-palate, and pine and licorice on the exhale. At navy strength all of that arrives with force: expect fresh pomelo and calamansi on the nose with earthy coriander, savory juniper, pine, mango, and perfumed lavender, opening into a palate of pomelo, dalandan, and calamansi over piney juniper spice, floral dryness from angelica and chamomile, lemongrass, cinnamon, and black pepper, finishing clean and balanced on juniper and citrus with a cooling lift. Built for cocktails where 40% gin disappears — a Negroni, a Last Word, a Gimlet — and, the distillery notes, a bartender's favorite.
