James Gin California Dreamgin' (JG.05) is the most unusual bottle in James May's lineup: a Vegan Society-certified gin built around mushrooms and patchouli leaf, a nod to California's role in the hippie movement and to the fact that, as the label points out, the joke rests on a single apostrophe. It is bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof) in a 700ml bottle.Drinkhacker rated it a B and called it the most challenging expression in the range, with a very earthy, sometimes pungent nose and an intensely green, tarry finish. That makes it a gin for the curious rather than the cautious: try it in a savory Martini with an olive, in a Negroni where the earthiness plays against Campari, or in an umami-heavy cocktail with mushroom or soy elements. It is not a dietary supplement, as the label helpfully notes, but it is a conversation piece.Buy James Gin California Dreamgin' online with fast shipping right to your door.
