Everyday Lineup｜ Other Products ｜Yamaha YAS-280S - Alto Saxophone - Silver Plated

One of the most popular student saxophones, silver plated
The Yamaha YAS280 is generally regarded as one of the best student horns on the market. For getting started and even as a budget horn for a more advanced player- these are an ideal choice.
Description
The YAS280 is a sax that stands out from the pack when it comes to student horns- with its smooth key work, easy-blowing character, and overall responsiveness this is a sax that is very hard to beat. Add to that the Yamaha 4C mouthpiece included as standard, rugged build quality, very good case, and the fact they hold their value exceptionally well and this is very much the instrument of choice in its price range.
The Beauty of Silver Plating
The gradual formation of patina on silver-plated saxophones imparts an exceptional charm and character to the instrument. It's a captivating visual transformation as the saxophone evolves and matures with time.It is important to acknowledge that although silver polish cloths are available, the natural process of tarnishing cannot be completely halted.Within just a few days, you will start to witness the beginning of this transformation. It's worth noting that many instruments we receive from the factory have already started tarnishing.

Review
The YAS 280S is widely regarded as one of the best student sax in the World and I cannot disagree. As with most student saxes the tone is on the light and bright side - there has to be a reason to buy the more expensive models. Along with many Yamaha endorsees, I find the silver plating does add some extra "star quality. Phill Straker - SAX
