The Tyrconnell 10 Year Old Port Cask Finish Irish Whiskey is part of the Cask Finish series from The Tyrconnell, the historic single malt brand revived at Cooley Distillery in County Louth and named for a racehorse that won at 100-to-1 odds in 1876. This double-distilled single malt is aged ten years in bourbon barrels, then finished in Port casks and bottled at 46% ABV (92 proof) without chill filtration. The Port wood layers dark fruit, honey and a hint of spice over the malt's honeyed, fruity base. The palate is complex with ripe berries, toasted oak and a subtle sweetness, and the finish is long with a gentle warmth. It is a whiskey to sip neat, and a good match for a cheese board. This 750ml bottle is a superb example of cask-finished Irish single malt with a real age statement.
