There is nothing quite like Buddleja globosa in bloom. Also known as orange ball tree or orange ball butterfly bush, this delightful South American shrub produces loose clusters of round, honey-scented, golden-orange flower balls that look like tiny pom-poms arranged along the stems. The effect is cheerful, unusual, and completely irresistible to pollinators.
Blooming through summer, Buddleja globosa brings bold texture and warm color to shrub borders, pollinator gardens, cottage plantings, and habitat-friendly landscapes. Butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds are drawn to the fragrant nectar-rich blooms, while gardeners love its easygoing nature and wonderfully distinctive look. The rounded flowers pair beautifully with salvias, yarrow, grasses, roses, echinacea, and blue or purple companions.
Plant orange ball butterfly bush in full sun with well-drained soil and moderate water while establishing. Prune as needed after bloom to shape and encourage fresh growth. Unusual, fragrant, and full of wildlife value, it is a standout for anyone who loves shrubs with personality. Explore more pollinator favorites in our Buddleja - Butterfly Bush collection.
