Linum lewisii - Blue Flax｜ Other Products

Lift your spirits with the true sky-blue flowers and graceful habit of Linum lewisii, a heat-tolerant, deer-resistant native perennial from the western United States. Slender foliage and arching branched stems up to 3' long carry a long succession of delicate 1" blue blooms from spring into mid-summer.

Also known as blue flax or Lewis flax, this airy wildflower brings soft movement and luminous color to dry landscapes, rock gardens, native plantings, open perennial borders, meadow-style gardens, and containers. Grown from seed, flower color can vary from pale blue to deeper blue, giving plantings a natural, painterly quality. It looks especially lovely with native grasses, California poppies, yarrow, buckwheats, penstemons, and silver foliage.

Plant Linum lewisii in full sun with lean, well-drained soil. It thrives in dryish conditions once established and resents overly rich or soggy soil. Light, easy, and quietly beautiful, this native blue flax is a wonderful choice for water-wise gardens. Explore more habitat-friendly favorites in our California Native Perennials collection.
