Details of Back by Popular Demand|Lou Reed Acetate – Street Hassle, Waiting for the Man & Venus in Furs| Other Products

A unique one-off acetate featuring three of Lou Reed’s most celebrated recordings: “Street Hassle,” “Waiting for the Man” and “Venus in Furs.” Handwritten labels list the tracks, highlighting its origins as a working production copy.Together, these recordings trace the arc of Reed’s remarkable career. “Waiting for the Man” and “Venus in Furs”, originally recorded with The Velvet Underground, helped redefine the possibilities of rock music in the 1960s through their raw realism and avant-garde experimentation. “Street Hassle,” the title track of Reed’s acclaimed 1978 solo album, remains one of his most ambitious compositions, combining spoken word, orchestral arrangements and vivid storytelling into a single, sprawling performance.Acetates such as this were produced in extremely limited numbers for reference, mastering or promotional purposes and were never intended for commercial sale, making surviving examples considerably rarer than standard vinyl pressings. This acetate comes directly from the personal collection of Mary Cobra (Mary Ramirez), founding guitarist of The Detroit Cobras, whose archive reflects a lifelong appreciation for the artists and records that shaped underground rock and roll.Key Details & Collectability
