The Visual Palette: Defining Your Photographic Style from Rocky Nook teaches approach and technique with the goal of helping you create your own unique look. Photographer Brian Matiash focuses on the ability to see differently, whether behind the camera, while editing an image, or sharing photos with others. In this thought-provoking book Matiash examines his creative path and personal style while inviting and encouraging you to find your own.
When developing a photographic style and expressing one's vision Matiash considers the entire image-making process. It is in this spirit that The Visual Palette considers both capture and post-processing as equal partners in the creation of the image and the expression of one's vision. As Ansel Adams said, "The negative is comparable to the composer's score and the print to its performance."The book is organized into three sections, including composition, post-processing, and sharing. Each chapter explores a photographic concept with stories and Matiash's own personal work. There's a "your story" segment as well, and in this section you are invited to examine your own work as you develop your unique style.A wonderful addition to any collection, this book is beautifully illustrated with photographs, and useful for a beginning to intermediate photographer as well as photography enthusiasts, hobbyists, advanced amateurs, and any photographer interested in landscape, nature, urban, and architectural genres of photography.
